Pressure Strip

Pressure Strip is an uncured modified butyl rubber designed to be placed in corners where pressure is difficult to apply with only a vacuum bag. Pressure Strip will cure on a 250°F (120°C) or a 350°F (176°C) lay‐up in an autoclave or oven. Maximum use temperature is 450°F (230°C). Pressure Strip is used as an expendable item and discarded after each cure. Pressure Strip is applied on top of the release film in the corner of the lay‐up prior to vacuum bagging. Pressure Strip is a compound of butyl rubber, resin plasticizers and fillers. There are no silicones used in the manufacture of this product.

Benefits Include:

  • A pressure intensifier that eliminates excess resin due to low pressure in difficult to bag corners.
  • Reduces scrap and MRB tags on production parts.
  • Can be used during the production process without re‐tooling.
  • Inexpensive, temporary caul for prototyping and serial productions parts.
  • Wide processing window for cures from 250 °F (120 °C) to 350 °F (176 °C) in an autoclave or oven, avoid need for multiple intensifier products.
  • No contamination risk ‐ Made of Silicone free uncured modified butyl rubber.
  • Reduces mark off on part in comparison to metallic loose tooling due to excellent flow of rubber.
